The Southwest Wisconsin Library System (SWLS) Board of Trustees is looking for a collaborative, innovative Director with demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to take SWLS to the next level of providing excellent services to its 28 member public libraries.
SWLS is one of sixteen public library systems in the state of Wisconsin. As a public library system, SWLS provides such services as delivery, management of a shared integrated library system, continuing education workshops, technology support, and consulting on issues related to public libraries to 28 independent public libraries. SWLS’ territory covers five counties with an approximate population of 126,000. Located in Wisconsin’s driftless region, the rolling hills, streams and rivers make this area one of the most beautiful in the state.
Minimum qualifications include: MLS from an ALA accredited library school, the ability to obtain or already hold a Wisconsin Library Director Grade I Certification, and five years of progressively responsible public library experience with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience at a public library management level.
Preferred qualifications include: experience with fiscal management, the ability to coach and inspire staff, a clear vision for and commitment to small public libraries, a collaborative approach to leadership, and a strong background in library advocacy at the state and federal level. Salary range: $62,000-$67,000. Benefits include a flexible work schedule, vacation, personal days, twelve paid holidays, sick days, and insurance.
